    Occasional Words launches blog

It gives me great pleasure to launch the Occasional Words blog.  Like the rest of our site, the blog will also be dedicated  to  helping you deliver the kind of speeches and toasts that make your family, and colleagues smile, and your mother proud.

Our mission is not only to equip you with professionally written, easy to customize, speeches and toasts but to also help reduce the anxiety many people feel when they have to sit down and begin writing a speech or a toast. Remember, the key here is not to turn you into a professional public speaker but to give you the basic skills and content, that will enable you to stand up in front of your family or colleagues and deliver a speech that will make them smile and your mother proud.

Since we launched this site this in 1999 we have helped thousands upon thousands of people look and sound professional and prepared during some of the most important events in their lives.  This blog is one more tool to help our customers and visitors.

In the first few posts we will share with you some of the tips found in our Public Speaking guide.  I look forward to your comments and suggestions.

One last thing before we get started.  Below you will find a link to the speech I delivered at my brother’s wedding.  I figured since I spend so much time talking about public speaking and speeches, it is only fair that I upload a video of me actually doing it.  The key point to remember it this: not every speech you deliver will be great.  The crowd may not always adore you.  But the more you put yourself out there, like I did in this instance, the better you will get.  Do the thing you fear and the fear will disappear.  Click Here to view.

      Hi Michael,

I saw the word “words” so I immediately entered your blog to see what is it about. Wonderful idea! I’ll probably come back for more.
You are invited to visit us (see blog address above) and we’ll appreciate your comments…?!
      Keep up the good work!

I’ve just found this blog through Blogosphere.

I need to put myself ‘out there’ in order to promote my book. However I’m very shy, and I’m hoping to get a few tips from your site. I get wound up in public - I was very nervous when I did a recent radio interview. SO if your blog helps me, I’ll shout it’s praises.

      Hi Anthony,

Please make sure you go through our free public speaking resources. You may also want to download our public speaking course.

From personal experience I can tell that following these few basic rules and “putting yourself out there” even if initially it feels uncomfortable” is the the best way to become an effective public speaker. As they say”practice is the mother of skill”.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or comments.

      To Fearless Public Speaking

      Michael
